Research has shown that the first 6 years of a child’s life are very important. Young children are learning sponges; every new experience gained, every word learnt, and all behaviour adopted prepare them for a successful future. They are therefore very impressionable during these early years and like to explore at every opportunity to discover new experiences, skills, environments, and friends. This is because their minds are very active, lively, and full of imaginations.
It is our responsibility as early childhood educators to nurture these young minds by providing a balanced education in a safe, comfortable, and stimulating environment where each child can discover, explore, learn, and develop critical life skills.
For your part, choosing a childcare facility for your child is not an easy task. My staff and I understand and value the importance of these starter years and are dedicated to ensuring that your child receives the best experience while at Play and Learn. I also encourage you to be an active part of Play and Learn; we see you as an important partner in your child’s development and encourage you to get involved as much as you can.

At Play and Learn, we aim to create a happy atmosphere where learning is fun and energetic for both children and teachers. We believe every child is unique and learns differently, therefore we approach teaching using a differentiated learning system. We welcome parent partnership, as we encourage our parents to be a part of our many school events and activities.
Our guiding principle is a simple one: we believe that children learn through play. This is reflected in our values and in how we care for and teach your little ones.
Our curriculum is guided by the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage as well as a site-based curriculum (Nigerian culture) that enables our children to become good citizens.
The Foundation Stage sets out 7 areas of learning to help develop and nurture the need of the whole child:
Ojoma Tuedor is an early childhood educator with a passion for working with children in their early years and watching them grow into holistic young children by providing the right educational environment that allows them to thrive. She is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University (1994), has a diploma in Child Care Management from Stratford Institute Canada (2007), and is certified in the theory and practice of the Preschool/Kindergarten Montessori Method of Education from North America Montessori Centre (NAMC; 2008). She has, over the years, also attended various courses and seminars on early childhood. She worked and trained with the Region of Peel, Southern Ontario, Canada, in their early childhood centres while pursuing her diploma and later volunteered and worked at the YMCA’s after-school programmes.
Play and Learn staff members are recruited for their educational qualifications, interpersonal skills, and for their warmth and love for working with children. We take great care to employ experienced caregivers and nurses whom we choose for their warmth and personalities to attend to the need of each child. Their childlike approach to life is also an added advantage as they are able to relate to your children and bring out the best in them.
After joining Play and Learn, staff members—the nurses, nannies, teachers, and administrative staff who make up our family—undergo continuous training and evaluation to bring out the best in each of them.
So, parents, you can rest assured that you are putting your precious ones in good and capable hands in a very comfortable and safe space.
Play and Learn was built with the safety and comfort of your young children in mind; each learning area has been carefully designed to allow the children to explore, play, make discoveries, and learn. Our outdoor playground is equipped with child-friendly toys and gadgets and has been specially padded to minimise child injury.
Cleanliness and hygiene are paramount: all toys and changing mats are sanitised and disinfected at the end of each day.
We conduct daily risk assessments, supervised by on-duty staff members, prior to the start of the school day and at closing.

We’re open 5 days a week (Monday to Friday), except on public holidays
